Mt. Morris woman sentenced to prison for stabbing fiance

Christina Larea Lorenz
WAYNSEBURG – A Mt. Morris woman convicted of stabbing her fiancé multiple times nearly two years ago was sentenced to 20 months to five years in prison.
Christina Lorenz, 33, stabbed Tyler Spacht, of Mt. Morris, seven times on March 12, 2017, during an argument at their home. After a three-day jury trial in September, she was convicted of aggravated assault, simple assault and reckless endangerment.
Lorenz was sentenced last week by Greene County Judge Louis Dayich and given credit for 113 days served in jail. In his Jan. 18 order, Dayich recognized that Lorenz “has numerous good qualities,” and that she has received support from friends and family.
“The court though does recognize that the defendant has been convicted as a result of a jury trial of serious offenses … ones of violence,” he wrote.
She was also ordered to pay $1,455 in restitution to the Victim Compensation Assistance Program. Dayich also mentioned that since Lorenz has been diagnosed with a mental health illness, she should seek “assessment and treatment” while incarcerated.
During the trial, Lorenz testified that she stabbed Spacht as a means of self-defense, claiming he attacked her and she was “in fear for my life.” He had told authorities that he thought he was going to die, after she left him bleeding on the floor of their home. He recovered from his injuries at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, W.Va.
