Two fatal crashes occurred Sunday in Greene and Washington counties.

The first involved a 20-year-old Rices Landing man, who died in a 1:33 a.m. crash in Cumberland Township, Greene County.

According to Greene County Coroner Gene Rush, Landen L. Watters was involved in a single-vehicle wreck at 694 Nemacolin Road. Watters was pronounced dead less than an hour later. The cause and manner of death is still being investigated, according to Rush’s report.

The report did not say how the crash happened or if Watters was the driver.

The second wreck happened about 12 hours later in North Strabane Township, Washington County, and involved a Canonsburg man who died at the scene, according to North Strabane police.

Robert C. Boyd, 77, was driving in the 1600 block of Route 519 near Steel Nation about 1:26 p.m., when he lost control of his vehicle, struck a fence, traveled down an embankment and hit a parked dump truck.

He was wearing a seat belt, according to Washington County Coroner Tim Warco. The cause and manner of death is still being investigated.

North Strabane Township Fire Department assisted.
