A Dunkard Township man is in jail after allegedly firing a gun into a wall, with his two children in the next room.

State police said Bryan Allen Shook, 35, of 167 Presock Road, had been arguing with his wife about 12:42 a.m. at their home, when he allegedly told her he wanted to shoot himself.

According to the criminal complaint, Shook retrieved a semi-automatic handgun and fired two rounds into their bedroom wall. Police said the couple’s 12-year-old and 10-year-old sons were in a nearby room during the shooting, after which the wife ran to her mother’s house nearby to contact police.

Shook was charged with discharging a firearm in an occupied structure, endangering the welfare of children, and recklessly endangering another person.

He was arraigned Monday morning by District Judge David Balint and jailed on $100,000 bond. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. July 25 before Balint.
