A Marianna man died Wednesday after he was thrown from an all-terrain vehicle and struck by another vehicle in Marianna.

Tyler Raymond Markoff, 21, was pronounced dead at UPMC-Presbyterian hospital, Pittsburgh, where he was flown following the accident.

According to state police, the accident occurred about 5:15 p.m. Wednesday. Markoff was traveling north on Rosewood Avenue, and a vehicle driven by a 46-year-old Brownsville man, whom police did not identify, was traveling east on Main Street.

Markoff pulled through the intersection with Main and attempted to turn right, but the ATV rolled onto its left side, and Markoff fell off the ATV.

Police said Markoff landed in the opposite lane of travel, in the path of the Brownsville driver, who swerved to avoid hitting the ATV. He hit the brakes, but could not come to a stop before hitting Markoff, police said.

Markoff was pronounced dead at 6:48 p.m.

According to the Stockdale Volunteer Fire Department Facebook page, Markoff was a volunteer firefighter for Marianna VFD.
