Springhill Township man accused of luring young girl
A Springhill Township man is accused of trying to lure an 11-year-old girl into his vehicle in Washington.
Marvin Murin, 53, of 291 Garrison Ridge Road, faces a felony child luring charge in connection with the alleged July 5 incident.
According to the criminal complaint, the child and her mother were walking south on Franklin Street, near its intersection with Beau Street, when a light blue Dodge pickup truck pulled up to the curb of Beau Street, shortly after 10 a.m.
Police believe Murin to be the one who was operating the truck.
The girl was about 20 feet ahead of her mother, and Murin allegedly opened the passenger side door, called out “come here” and whistled at the child.
Police said Murin drove away as the girl’s mother began to call 911. She was able to obtain the vehicle’s registration number, and police said the vehicle was registered to Murin.
A camera mounted on the courthouse was able to capture the truck pulling up to the curb at the intersection of Beau Street and Franklin Street.
The girl and her mother described the driver as having a “big mustache” and not much hair.
Police said PennDOT records showed that description matched Murin and also revealed that he has a twin brother.
Murin’s mother reportedly told police that of the two brothers, Marvin Murin is the only one who has a mustache. His employer told police that Murin was not at work on the day of the alleged incident.
