Comment period opens for traffic, transit issues
A public comment period opened this week for amendments to Washington County’s comprehensive plan for transit development in the northern part of the county.
The plans will be a general, long-term guide for the Washington County Transportation Authority and for mitigating traffic problems on the Interstate 79 and Route 19 corridors.
It will also focus on parts of the Southern Beltway under development and targeted areas for development, including rural areas and areas that are in transition.
The Washington County Planning Commission noted the 45-day comment period will close Wednesday, Sept. 4.
At 10 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 5, before the regular meeting, the board of commissioners will host a public hearing on the amendments in the public meeting room of the Courthouse Square office building.
