An 18-year-old from East Washington was denied bail after he allegedly fired six shots at a vehicle Saturday afternoon.

Police charged Mason Fortunato, of Thayer Street, with aggravated assault, prohibited possession of a firearm, nine counts of reckless endangerment, terroristic threats and propelling a missile into an occupied vehicle.

According to the criminal complaint, the incident occurred about 4:30 p.m. Saturday in the 100 block of Maple Avenue.

Allen Coburn told police males were yelling at him at Maple Avenue and Michigan Avenue, and they followed him onto Maple.

The complaint alleges that Fortunato pulled out a pistol and fired six times at Coburn’s vehicle.

There were two houses in the line of fire. There also were multiple people outside as the shots were fired in their direction, according to the complaint.

There were no injuries.

Fortunato was incarcerated in Washington County Jail. District Judge Traci McDonald Kemp denied him bail because the court “cannot assure (Fortunato) will appear” for his preliminary hearing, according to online court records.

The hearing is scheduled for 11 a.m. June 12 before McDonald Kemp.
