Hunting violation alleged: Derek T. Stickles, 23, of 104 Greene Valley Road, was charged by the Southwest Pennsylvania Game Commission with killing a bear without the proper license in October. Game Commission officer Brandon Bonin said Stickles was archery deer hunting about 8 a.m. Oct. 19 when he spotted a black bear. He allegedly shot and killed it, before going to Walmart to purchase a bear license. Police said that Nov. 2, Stickles took the bear to a taxidermy shop near Morgantown.

Theft of services: A 66-year-old West Virginia man is facing charges after he recently failed to pay for lottery tickets at the BFS Foods store at 137 Locust Ave. Jeff Clendon Sewell, of Maidsville, W.Va., was charged by Greene County Regional police with two counts of theft of services following the June 7 incident. Sewell allegedly told the clerk that he wanted two $100 tickets. The clerk ran the tickets, then asked Sewell to pay for them. He allegedly told her he couldn’t afford them, before leaving in his car without paying.
