Century Inn gets $100,000 state tax credit
Century Inn is getting a $100,000 tax credit to help compensate with the cost of restoration from a 2015 fire.
The credit is awarded through the state’s Historic Preservation Tax Credit program, which is administered by the Department of Community and Economic Development and the Pennsylvania Historical & Museum Commission.
A historic landmark dating to 1794, the two-story inn in Scenery Hill was restored and partially rebuilt at a cost of $1.8 million. It reopened in mid-February 2018.
“Century Inn has a rich and storied history and remains one of the region’s most important historical landmarks,” said state Sen. Camera Bartolotta, R-Carroll Township, who announced the tax credit. “I appreciate all the work that has gone into repairing and preserving this beautiful part of our region’s heritage, and I am thankful that this funding will support that worthwhile effort.”
About $3 million in tax credits is being awarded in this round of state funding, to be used to leverage about $113 million in redevelopment funding.
