Fayette County man charged in unlawful contact case in N. Strabane
A Fayette County man is in custody on charges he used social media in attempts to lure a North Strabane Township girl into having sex with him, court records allege.
North Strabane police arrested Cheyenne Joseph Lowry, 53, of Uledi, in the case Wednesday, charging him with unlawful sexual contact with a child, corruption of a minor and illegal use of a cellphone, court records show.
The girl’s mother had dated and broke up with Lowry before he allegedly turned his attentions on her 14-year-old daughter, police stated in the affidavit.
The mother gave a police officer her permission to pose as her daughter on the girl’s Facebook account. The officer, pretending to be the teen, began a conversation with Lowry about 11 p.m. Monday, court records allege.
Police said Lowry engaged in a sexual conversation on the Facebook account, enticed her to meet him and also send him a photo of her pretending to kiss him. He also suggested that she lie about her age to make her an adult, court records indicate.
Lowry was placed in Washington County Jail on $25,000 bond set by District Judge Mark Wilson.
