Power has been partially restored in Peters Township following a incident late Sunday that took down a utility pole.

Power has been restored to neighborhoods in Peters Township after an incident late Sunday, but motorists near the Allegheny-Washington County lined encountered road closures due to a downed utility pole.

A resident who heard a crash on Little Lane near Sylvania Drive saw a vehicle exit, but he told police he didn’t know if it hit a tree that then brought down power lines or narrowly missed the tree that was toppling. A power outage near the woodsy area ensued.

Both police and firefighters responded to the 10:15 p.m. incident, putting up flares to keep traffic from the potentially dangerous situation on Little Lane.

Chainsaws sounded for more than a half-hour in the early morning, and wires and debris obstructed the intersection. A new utility pole was installed and another was straightened.

While power was restored by mid-afternoon Monday, the road remained closed due to downed cables.
