Carroll woman charged with assaulting officer, EMT

2 min read

A Carroll Township woman has been charged with assaulting an ambulance worker and a police officer who was arresting her under suspicion of drunken driving last week.

Carroll police also accused Briana Rae Kenavey, 36, of crashing her sport-utility vehicle into a parked car with two young children unsecured in her vehicle about 10 p.m. June 18, court records show.

Kenavey became combative and spit in the faces of Officer Michael Fendya and EMT Robert Lisovich after her vehicle collided with the car owned by Kenneth M Gardner Jr. in the 100 block of Elmcrest Avenue, police said in charging documents.

Police said a “spit mask” was applied to her face after she struggled violently with Fendya and was forced by him to the ground.

Kenavey also had to be carried into a police cruiser and Mon Valley Hospital in Carroll, where she refused to submit to a blood-alcohol test.

She was taken to a Monongahela police department holding cell until she sobered up, the affidavit indicates. The two children were released to their grandparents.

Kenavey, of 125 Diane Drive, is charged with aggravated assault, reckless endangerment, endangering the welfare of children, resisting arrest and driving under the influence of alcohol.

District Judge Mark Wilson released her Wednesday on $5,000 unsecured bond.
