Homeowner Dennis Leech waits in front of his home at 168 Ginger Hill Road in Nottingham Township after it was damaged by fire Friday.

Dennis Leech was at his bar, Denny’s Roadhouse in Monongahela, when he received a text message from an acquaintance who told him his house was on fire.

“Twenty-five years I’ve lived here, and it’s gone,” said Leech, standing in front of the two-story home at 168 Ginger Hill Road in Nottingham Township.

Leech’s wife, Terry Dixon, was injured in the fire, but Leech said she was expected to recover.

She was transported by ambulance to Canonsburg Hospital and then flown to West Penn Hospital, Pittsburgh, for evaluation and treatment.

Valley Inn fire Chief John Curcio Jr. said the blaze broke out shortly after 6 p.m.

Firefighters from Valley Inn were assisted by Finleyville, North Strabane and Bentleyville volunteer fire departments.

Curcio said the second story of the home was fully engulfed when they arrived.

Leech said he had talked with his wife at about 5:20 p.m., and she was preparing to pick him up for dinner and an evening out.

“Within a half hour, the place was gone,” said Leech.

The state police fire marshal is investigating the cause of the fire.
