Traffic restrictions on I-70 near West Alexander lifted Tuesday
Single-lane restrictions on Interstate 70 between the West Virginia border and Exit 1 (West Alexander) were lifted Tuesday and two lanes of traffic resumed in each direction, the state Department of Transportation said.
In addition, the speed limit was increased to 55 mph from 45 mph. PennDOT spokeswoman Valerie Petersen said the longwall mining panel in Pennsylvania that led to the restrictions has been completed.
Single-lane restrictions on I-70 in West Virginia are expected to be lifted today.
Some temporary single-lane restrictions may be needed as PennDOT works to repair any damage to the highway.
