West Brownsville man captured following North Charleroi crash
CHARLEROI – A West Brownsville man who is facing charges in four counties was taken into custody Wednesday after police said he caused a crash that severely injured a motorcyclist on the Charleroi-Monessen Bridge.
District Judge Joshua Kanalis ordered the suspect, Tanner Boyle, 39, held without bond in Washington County Jail because he faces multiple criminal cases, online court records show.
Charleroi police arrested Boyle after officers, assisted by state police, discovered he was at a Rostraver Township shopping plaza.
Boyle, of 111 Wilson Road, was accused of tailgating William Borodati before using his car to strike the rear of the man’s motorcycle on a section of the bridge in North Charleroi.
The two men began to argue at the crash scene.
Borodati told police he grabbed Boyle’s car as he began to drive off, but he was thrown to the pavement, charging documents indicate.
Borodati gave witnesses the car’s license plate registration after Boyle left the scene and before he was flown by helicopter to a Pittsburgh hospital with a severe laceration to his right eye and a broken wrist, the affidavit indicates.
Police said they discovered crack and a syringe in Boyle’s car.
There are numerous citations against Boyle that are listed as inactive in Washington, Westmoreland, Allegheny and Fayette counties, online court records show.
He was charged Wednesday with aggravated assault by motor vehicle, aggravated assault, causing an accident involving injury, simple assault, drug possession and several traffic violations.
