Donora man charged with bringing marijuana to underage drinking party

2 min read

Charges have been filed against a Donora man who allegedly brought a Mason jar full of marijuana to an underage drinking party.

Derek Michael Cesovski, 19, faces four different drug charges and one count of underage drinking. He was arraigned before Westmoreland County Magisterial District Judge Charles Christner on Tuesday.

Rostraver Township police said they responded to a call for a large underage drinking party at a home on Rostraver Road at 6:50 p.m. Monday.

Police said they obtained Cesovski’s driver’s license from his backpack and asked him if there was anything in the backpack with which they should be concerned. Cesovski initially said the backpack didn’t belong to him, according to court paperwork, then later told police it was his and contained marijuana.

Police searched the backpack and found a large Mason jar full of suspected marijuana, several plastic bags, a digital scale with marijuana residue, $376 in cash and a 16-ounce can of beer that was cold to the touch. A PNC bank card issued to Cesovski was also found in the backpack, police said.

Cesovski is lodged in the Westmoreland County Prison in lieu of $10,000 bond.

A preliminary hearing has been scheduled before Christner at 10 a.m. June 3.
