Belle Vernon man charged with sexually assaulting teen
Editor’s note: the charges of indecent assault and indecent assault of a person younger than 16 in the below case were dismissed as part of a plea bargain.
A Belle Vernon man was arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting a 14-year-old girl at his home earlier this week.
Jonathon Herman Nugara, 25, of Market Street is charged with unlawful restraint, corruption of minors, endangering the welfare of children, simple assault, indecent assault and indecent assault of a person younger than 16.
According to the affidavit of probable cause filed in his case, Nugara pinned the girl on a bed, restrained her and touched her inappropriately. She shoved his hand away, police said. The contact allegedly occurred Sunday night to Monday morning. The girl made a report to state police early Monday.
Nugara was arraigned Monday before on-call Fayette County Magisterial District Judge Ronald Haggerty Jr., who set bail at $20,000. Nugara was released from Fayette County Prison later that day after bond was posted on his behalf.
His preliminary hearing is tentatively scheduled for 8:30 a.m. June 10.
