Man charged: Jeramiah Charles Layhue, 42, of 325 Phillips St., Speers, is charged by state police with possession of a small amount of crack, driving under the influence and causing an accident involving damage to property, court records show. The charges stem from a traffic stop on Interstate 70 East about 1:40 p.m. Sept. 11 after Layhue was allegedly involved in a hit-and-run accident in Somerset Township. Police filed the case Thursday before District Judge Eric Glenn Porter.

Theft case: Thomas Donald Opic III, 39, of Wheeling, W.Va, is charged by state police with theft over allegations he stole tools valued at $2,050 from Cindy Clutter of Spotted Tail Road between Oct. 14 and 16, court records show. District Judge Mark Wilson signed a warrant Thursday for Opic’s arrest.
