A Washington man was killed Monday afternoon in a one-vehicle crash in North Franklin Township.

According to state police, William Shadel, 79, was driving west on Overlook Drive about 12:20 p.m. when he failed to negotiate a turn and crashed into a retaining wall in the 500 block of Franklin Terrace.

Shadel was transported to Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh, where he died at 10:30 p.m. Monday.
