$1 million grant announced for South Fayette park expansion
South Fayette Township has received $1 million in new grant funding for its expansion of Fairview Park.
The funding will go toward construction of a new baseball field, bleachers, a scoreboard, lighting and other project costs. The grant comes from the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR), and DCNR Deputy Secretary Lauren Imgrund said, “We are extremely proud of the work the township is doing to expand outdoor recreation opportunities in the community and look forward to seeing the impact of this state investment as the township implements its development plan in the park.”
John Barrett, South Fayette’s manager, said, “Building new ball fields, with the help of the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources and the Land Water Conservation Fund, will benefit the entire community, especially our youth.”
DCNR provides grants to myriad projects across Pennsylvania annually, and will provide $70 million in grants in the 2021-22 fiscal year.
