ALMANAC Former St. Joan of Arc principal appointed as diocesan regional administrator
Jonathan Cuniak, one-time principal of the former St. Joan of Arc School in South Park, has been appointed by Bishop David Zubik as regional administrator for the Pittsurgh-East Regional Catholic Elementary Schools (PERCES).
The appointment became effective May 2. Cuniak has served as interim administrator since October.
“Our diocese has been blessed with a strong heritage of Catholic education,” Zubik said. “Our Catholic schools must continue the important evangelizing mission of forming and educating our young people – the future of our Church.”
The PERCES board has given its unanimous support to Cuniak.
“Jon has a passion for our children and for Catholic education,” said Father Kris Stubna, board president. “He is an effective administrator. The PERCES board has complete confidence in his ability to lead us forward into the future.”

Cuniak has served at principal of St. Therese of Lisieux School in Munhall and St. Pius X School in Reynoldsburg, Ohio, as well as St. Joan of Arc School. Cuniak also was a teacher for nine years.
“I am grateful for the confidence placed in me by Bishop Zubik, Father Stubna and the PERCES board and diocesan leadership as I take on the role as regional administrator of PERCES,” Cuniak said. “I look forward to working together to strengthen Catholic education in the East Region and ultimately bring our students closer to Jesus.”
