Online gaming revenues in Michigan have reached new heights, according to the latest set of numbers covering July 2023. Gross receipts across online casinos and sportsbooks reached $176.1 million for the month, that’s a massive 18.8% increase on the same period last year.

The total for July also shows a continuing upward curve for 2023, with the revenue for July being a healthy 4% up on June. Online gambling in the state had dipped a little earlier in the year but has come back undeterred.

The success of online gambling in the state is not just something that has benefitted the brands that operate in the region but also Michigan’s state coffers. Indeed, August saw the state pass $1 billion in tax revenue.

They hit this milestone after 32 months of operation, that’s some four months ahead of Pennsylvania and makes Michigan the fastest state to hit that mark.

Tax revenue from online casinos provides important support for responsible gambling initiatives, first responders, and Michigan’s School Aid Fund.” Briggs added.

The success of the industry in the state is all the most impressive when you consider that, in population terms, Michigan is only the tenth most populated, which goes to show just how effective online casino and sports betting markets have been there since the activities were legalized there in January 2021.
