Free tax assistance provided
Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) will be providing free assistance for taxpayers preparing their tax returns Feb. 6 through April 6 at the Bible Chapel, 300 Gallery Drive, McMurray.
The assistance will be available from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Thursday No returns are started after 1 p.m.
No appointments are necessary. Those who come will be served on a first-come, first-serve basis.
Typically, there will be 10 tax preparers available each day. All tax preparers have been trained, tested and certified by the Internal Revenue Service.
Documents that must be brought include:
- 2021 tax return
- ID for the taxpayer and that person’s spouse
- Social Security numbers for the taxpayer, spouse and dependents
- All W-2 & 1099 documents (including Social Security 1099), 1095 health care statements and property tax receipts
- Both spouses must sign joint tax returns.
Federal, state and local tax and property tax/rent rebate reforms will be prepared.
