Jason Dunkle of Washington and his Italian Greyhound, Greyson, 9, won first place in the costume contest in the medium dog category at the 19th annual Pittsburgh Pet Expo on Sunday at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center.

They were dressed as Michael Myers and Mutt Myers. The pet contest was hosted by Val Porter of 102.5 WDVE.

“Dozens of people wanted to take pictures with us while we were there,” Dunkle said. “The costume was a hit. Many people in the crowd were screaming at the top of their lungs, because everyone wanted to see us win.”

According to its website, the three-day Pittsburgh Pet Expo is the largest pet expo in the U.S., with more than 250 vendors and more than 18,000 attendees.

Dunkle said he entered the contest twice before with his dog Italian Greyhound Roxy, who died in 2021.

“This was the contest that I had always wanted to win,” he said. “This year, we finally did it. I couldn’t believe it. I’m so proud of Greyson. He continues to carry on Roxy’s legacy.”

Greyson won a gift basket with treats, toys, and a gift card to Healthy Pet Products.
