East Millsboro man charged for allegedly selling firearms
An East Millsboro man faces more than 20 charges related to the illegal sale of firearms, including to a man who is currently awaiting trial for homicide in Fayette County.
State police charged Isaiah Minor-Broadwater, 24, on Tuesday with felonies for the sale or transfer of a firearm. According to the criminal complaint, investigators found that Minor-Broadwater legally purchased 13 handguns between December 2020 and December 2022.
Police found seven guns originally purchased by Minor-Broadwater at a home in Brownsville during a separate investigation in April 2022.
According to the complaint, this led to police to discover that other guns he purchased had been recovered by other law enforcement agencies.
In August 2021 Beaver County detectives served a search warrant at a home on Penn Avenue in Aliquippa as part of efforts to locate Maceo Saunders, who at the time was wanted by Washington police for two separate shootings in the city.
Saunders, 28, of Canton Township, has since pleaded guilty to the shootings and is serving 12 1/2 to 25 years in prison.
While searching the residence investigators found a handgun belonging to Minor-Broadwater under a couch. When a Beaver County detective questioned him a couple of months later, Minor-Broadwater claimed he recently had two guns stolen but did not have time to file a police report.
Police interviewed Minor-Broadwater in August of last year at his home in the 400 block of Westbend Road.
When Minor-Broadwater could not account for several guns police knew he had purchased, he again claimed they had either been stolen or lost, but eventually confessed to having sold multiple guns to Sean Crump, 20, of Uniontown, court documents indicate.
Minor-Broadwater said he only knew Crump by the name “Koopin Shawn.”
According to court records, Minor-Broadwater sold Crump six handguns between June 2021 and December 2021.
Crump is currently in the Fayette County jail awaiting trial for allegedly shooting and killing Keonte “Keon” McCargo in Uniontown. Crump is accused of shooting McCargo at the intersection of Park Avenue and Liberty Street on Jan. 30. McCargo died from his injuries on Feb. 1. He was 19 years old.
Court records do not specify if police believe Crump used a gun he purchased from Minor-Broadwater in the shooting of McCargo.
Minor-Broadwater was arraigned Tuesday morning before District Judge Jason Cox, who released him on $20,000 unsecured bond.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 11 a.m. Nov. 27.
