Bentleyville man killed in dune buggy accident

A Bentleyville man died last week after crashing a dune buggy-style vehicle in Somerset Township.

State police identified the crash victim as Steve Mox Jr., 88. According to police, the accident occurred shortly after 9 p.m. Friday in the 200 block of Caldwell Road.

Police said Mox was operating a special construction, dune buggy-style vehicle that was registered for street use. Mox went off the road and struck a parked car. He told police the windshield had fogged up and he was unable to see.

According to police, Mox was transported to UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh for treatment of a broken leg. He from his injuries at about 6 a.m. Saturday, police said.
