NAACP, LWV to host candidates forum
Washington County’s NAACP and League of Women Voters will host a Meet the Candidates Forum on Wednesday, Oct. 11. The non-partisan event will be held at LeMoyne Community Center at 200 N. Forrest Avenue in Washington. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. The event will begin at 7.
Moderated by former Washington County Commissioner Bracken Burns, the event will provide the opportunity for the public to hear directly from candidates running for elected office in November. Voter registration assistance and answers about voting procedures and deadlines, early voting, how to vote by mail, absentee voting and more will be available.
The event will provide an unbiased platform for raising candidates’ voices and voters’ questions during a pivotal election year with important local, county and statewide positions on the ballot. Every candidate running for countywide office, Washington city mayor and council, and Washington School District Board of Directors has been invited to participate. The forum will be wheelchair-accessible, free, and open to the public.
Submit written questions for the candidates at the event or in advance to naacpwashpa@gmail.com/.
