Donora to seek bids for forensic audits
Donora council approved a motion Thursday to advertise for bids for a two-year and seven-year forensic audit of borough financial information and accounts.
The motion was approved 6-0. Councilwoman P. Jane Ackerman was not in attendance.
Council originally discussed conducting such an audit covering the years from 2017-23 at its September meeting. A possible cost of such an audit quoted at that time was $50,000.
Councilwoman Cynthia Brice said then that spending in the borough was erratic, citing more than $100,000 paid to an attorney in the case involving the termination of her husband, Jim Brice, from his position as police superintendent.
She said at the time that she and Councilman Thomas Thompson had expressed interest in conducting an audit over questions involving past pay raises and why sewer fund reports are no longer given.
