Charleroi man charged with possession of child pornography
A Charleroi man accused of possessing child pornography was arrested Thursday by Charleroi Regional Police Department.
Travis Cleop Hughes III, 25, is accused in court records of communicating with teenagers and sending them inappropriate images of himself. He was using his grandmother’s phone to carry on these conversations, according to police.
The messages were first reported to police Nov. 30, and investigators had a warrant for the phone’s contents on Dec. 1.
This week, police received some of the material on the phone. According to the complaint, two videos involved juveniles. Investigators are working to extract the rest of the data.
Hughes is charged with felonies of possession of child pornography and criminal use of a communication facility.
He was arraigned Thursday before District Judge Eric Porter, who sent him to the Washington County jail on $100,000 bond. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 10:15 a.m. Dec. 21.
