1 min read

State police have charged a Michigan man in connection to the fatal overdose of a woman in Georges Township nearly two years ago.

Franklin Donald Hiles, 40, of South Haven, Mich. faces felony charges of drug delivery resulting in death and possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver.

According to the criminal complaint, the afternoon of Dec. 3, 2021, police found a 52-year-old woman who had overdosed at a home in the 200 block of 2nd Street. She was declared dead shortly after.

Police did not identify the woman in court records.

An autopsy found she died from a combination of methadone and fentanyl.

According to the complaint, police looked through the woman’s cellphone and found multiple instances of her arranging to buy drugs from Hiles.

Police said the messages suggest that the woman met with Hiles the morning she overdosed.

Hiles also faces misdemeanor charges of possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. There is an active warrant for his arrest.
