Waynesburg man sentenced to 10 years in federal prison for transporting teen to W.Va. for sex
A Greene County man who took a teenage girl to West Virginia and engaged in a sexual relationship with her was sentenced Monday to serve a decade in federal prison.
James Michael Jordan was sentenced by U.S. District Judge William Stickman to the 10-year imprisonment followed by 15 years on supervised release for taking the girl across state lines in January 2022.
Jordan, 31, of Waynesburg, pleaded guilty Oct. 17 in federal court in Pittsburgh to one felony count of transportation with intent to engage in criminal sexual activity, according to online court records.
He was accused of communicating with the 14-year-old girl for a couple of months before taking her to Lewisburg, W.Va., on Jan. 11, 2022. They were located by authorities in West Virginia the following day, and the girl was returned home.
Waynesburg police charged him at the time with kidnapping and other felonies after he was extradited from West Virginia back to Greene County.
In May 2022, Jordan pleaded guilty in Greene County Court of Common Pleas to charges of receiving stolen property, corruption of a minor and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle in connection with the case. President Judge Lou Dayich sentenced him to serve 11 ½ to 23 months in the county jail, according to online court documents.
Federal authorities indicted Jordan in December 2022 on charges of intent to engage in illicit sexual conduct and receipt and attempted receipt of material depicting the sexual exploitation of a minor, along with the felony count of transportation with intent to engage in criminal sexual activity for which he ultimately pleaded guilty in October.
His federal public defender, Jake Morrison, could not be reached for comment Wednesday.
