A Peters Township man is bringing his financial services to downtown Washington.

For about three weeks, Matthew Glenn Wilson: Primerica-Financial Services has been operating in the Ignite Business Incubator at 57 E. Chestnut St. with his wife, Sheril. A ribbon cutting for the new business is scheduled for 10 a.m. April 29.

“I needed a place where I could bring customers,” Wilson said. “They made it so easy here. They have office space and a conference room that’s available. I’m going to use it as a beacon of light in Washington to provide financial literacy to the community. This is an excellent place for me to congregate and use as a launching pad to service Washington County.”

Primerica is a company that provides insurance, investment and financial services to middle-income families.

“We’re educating mainstream America on how money works,” Wilson said. “I’ve put together a complementary financial wellness (plan) for individuals and families to help them navigate through life so people can have a respectable retirement.”

Wilson wanted to focus on Washington County when he opened his own business. He has been involved in financial service for about 10 years.

“There is a great need,” Wilson said. “People go to school to get good grades so they can go work for somebody, but what they’re not taught is what to do with that paycheck each week. That’s where I come in. I have a lot of partners who can provide a customized solution for people.”

Wilson was attracted to Ignite for the business, especially because of the work the incubator does with local entrepreneurs. Ignite connects, supports, educates and empowers entrepreneurs and small businesses by offering services such as consulting, advice or networking.

“My job is to provide financial wellness to people, but also to give people a part-time opportunity or an opportunity for someone who may be looking to make a career change,” Wilson said. “I am licensing people. We actually sponsor people to get all of their licenses.”

“I’d like to stay here and have a lot of people working with me and call this home,” Wilson said.
