Warrant sweep results in 11 arrests

1 min read

The Washington County Sheriff Fugitive Warrant Unit, with the assistance of several area law enforcement agencies, conducted a warrant sweep early Friday morning.

About 40 bench or probation warrants were attempted for several crimes, resulting in 11 arrests.

The bench warrants for those arrested ranged from firearms to drugs and probation violations, as well as an individual who was wanted by Federal Parole for a federal firearms violation.

Assisting the sheriff’s department were the Washington, South Strabane Township and Pennsylvania State police, Washington County Drug Task Force, Washington County Adult Probation, State Parole and United States Marshal Fugitive Task Force.

Sheriff Tony Andronas said the warrant sweep had been in the works for some time.

“It takes a lot of planning, making sure everything is valid, putting together the teams so it’s a very smooth and safe endeavor for us,” he said. “Everything went without incident. We’re thankful to the agencies that came out and helped us. We’re happy with the outcome.”
