Canton Township man charged in sexual assault of juvenile
State police arrested a Canton Township man Tuesday after he was accused of sexually assaulting a teenage girl.
Christopher Michael Harp, 25, faces several felony charges of statutory sexual assault, corruption of minors, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse and endangering the welfare of children.
According to the criminal complaint, Harp assaulted the 14-year-old at a home in Canton Township Monday. Police spoke with the teenager at UPMC Washington Hospital Tuesday morning.
Harp was interviewed by state police later that afternoon and allegedly admitted that he had assaulted the victim, according to court documents.
Harp was arraigned Tuesday night before District Judge Gary Havelka, who sent him to the Washington County jail on $50,000 bond. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. Aug. 13.
