The boil advisory for people living in the Davistown area of Dunkard Township was lifted over the weekend, more than a week after nearly 200 households lost water service.

Pennsylvania American Water Co., which now operates the East Dunkard Water Authority that serves 4,200 people in southeastern Greene County, announced Sunday that it had tested water samples and concluded it was safe to consume without boiling.

Water was out for three days in some portions of the Davistown area when an electrical outage caused the Donley holding tank to drain of all water on July 27. Crews were able to eventually refill the tank and methodically restore water to all customers by July 30.

“The system pressure and storage to the tank has returned to normal operation condition,” the company said in a press release Sunday.

Customers in that area were asked to boil their water while the company tested for bacteria within the system, which it did Friday and Saturday.
