I-79 reopens after crash

Interstate 79 southbound in North Strabane has reopened after being closed for about two hours earlier this afternoon when a vehicle crossed the median and went over an embankment.

According to a Washington County 911 supervisor, a northbound vehicle went over the median into the southbound lanes before going off the road. The accident occurred about 2:30 p.m. near the Southpointe exit at mile marker 46 in North Strabane.

According to 911, a medical helicopter was on standby, but it was not immediately clear if there were any injuries.
