Two North Strabane men charged in assault of juvenile

North Strabane police charged a father and son Monday after they were accused of providing alcohol to juveniles and assaulting one of them.

Ricky Wayne Wilson, 51, and Curtis Wayne Wilson, 18, both of North Strabane, each face a misdemeanor charge of simple assault. The elder Wilson is also charged with a felony of aggravated assault, accused of hitting a police officer in the forehead while being arrested.

According to the criminal complaint, police were called at about 2:40 a.m. Monday to the 60 block of Carl Avenue after a woman called 911 to report an assault.

Police said that earlier in the evening the two juveniles were at the neighboring home of Ricky and Curtis Wilson, who are accused of providing them with alcohol.

Charging documents state one of the juveniles got into an argument with Ricky Wilson. He and his son are accused of then hitting and kicking the juvenile in the head.

When officers arrived, they noticed the juvenile had a large gash on her forehead and cuts to her lip. Police wrote in the complaint that both victims smelled of alcohol.

Police arrested Ricky and Curtis Wilson soon after. Ricky Wilson resisted while being taken into custody and hit an officer, court documents state, and faces additional misdemeanor charges of furnishing liquor to a minor and resisting arrest. Both were also charged with summary offenses of harassment and disorderly conduct.

The two men were arraigned Monday morning before District Judge Kelly Stewart. Stewart sent Ricky Wilson to the Washington County jail on $25,000 bond, while Curtis Wilson’s bond was set at $2,500.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 10 a.m. Sept. 17.
