The GetGo on East Wylie Avenue is on track to be outfitted with electric vehicle chargers.

More options for charging electric vehicles in Washington are in the works.

The state Department of Transportation announced a $7.1 million investment for electric vehicle chargers across the state. According to Zachary Appleby, a PennDOT spokesperson, the funds are part of the federal Bipartisan Infrastructure law.

One of the 10 projects PennDOT announced Thursday was the installation of electric vehicle chargers at the GetGo located at 104 E. Wylie Ave., Washington. Appleby said Spark Community Investment applied for and received $641,076 in funding.

Spark Community Investment is a Washington, D.C.,-based firm that works with property owners on energy-related projects.

“With every investment in (electric vehicle) infrastructure, we make clean transportation options more accessible for Pennsylvanians,” said PennDOT Secretary Mike Carroll in a press release.

According to the release, PennDOT plans to verify that at least 50% of the labor will be performed by workers who live within 50 miles of any given project.

PennDOT will receive a total of $171.5 million in federal funds for electric vehicle charging over five years.

It was not clear when the chargers would be installed.
