Bradford House plans Fall Homeschoolers’ Day
Observer-Reporter
The Bradford House Historical Association will host its Fall Homeschoolers’ Day from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct 1.
The Bradford House is a National Historic Landmark on South Main Street in downtown Washington and the former home of David Bradford, one of the leaders of the 1794 Whiskey Rebellion. Visitors will have the opportunity to explore 18th-century lifestyles through a tour of the house. Additionally, guests can enjoy a hearth-cooking demonstration in the log kitchen cabin and taste a traditional “sugar cake.”
The event also includes a Whiskey Rebellion Education and Visitor Center tour, which features an informative walk-through timeline detailing the Rebellion’s causes, events, notable figures, places, and outcomes. For a more interactive experience, children can participate in hands-on activities at the Meeting House, such as writing with a quill pen, dyeing wool, and trying historical toys and games in the Bradford House Garden.
Please note that during the open house at the Bradford House, the parking lot will be unavailable, and visitors are advised to use metered street or lot parking instead. There will be limited outdoor seating for those bringing a lunch.
The event has an entrance fee of $8 pre-sale per person, but children ages 4 and under can attend for free. Cost is $10 a ticket at the door.
Preregistration is encouraged.
