Greene man arrested on robbery charge
State police arrested a Greene County man Tuesday after he was accused of assaulting and robbing another man over lost pool games.
James Edward Gayman Jr., 26, of Mather, faces felony charges of robbery and aggravated assault.
According to the criminal complaint, the incident occurred at about 9:30 p.m. Monday at Stoney Point Restaurant and Lounge at 1087 Jefferson Road, Morgan Township.
Police wrote in charging documents that Gayman wagered about $400 on multiple games of pool with Charles Kennedy and lost each one.
When Gayman asked for his money back, Kennedy offered him $50. According to the complaint, as Kennedy pulled the cash out of his pocket Gayman hit him multiple times and took off with about $700.
Kennedy received stitches to his upper left eye and suffered a broken nose. He reported the assault to police at about 3:30 a.m. the following day.
District Judge Thomas Ankrom sent Gayman to the Greene County jail on $30,000 bond. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 11 a.m. Sept. 6.
