CHARLEROI

Terroristic threats: David Mooers, 38, of Charleroi, was charged Friday by Charleroi Regional Police with terroristic threats, resisting arrest, possession of a controlled substance and disorderly conduct. According to the criminal complaint, police were on their way to Mooers’ home Nov. 27 to serve bench warrants out of Beaver and Westmoreland counties when they saw him at the intersection of Seventh Street and Washington Avenue. Mooers is accused of threatening an officer by saying he would “slit his throat” with a razor blade he had hidden. Police did not find a weapon, but found pills and suspected marijuana in his possession. Mooers was arraigned Friday morning before District Judge Eric Porter, who sent him to the Washington County jail on $25,000 bond.

NORTH STRABANE

Assault alleged: Jeremy Gilchrist, 41, of North Strabane Township, was charged Sunday by North Strabane police with simple assault and harassment. According to the criminal complaint, at about 8 a.m. Sunday police were called to the 100 block of Old Meadow Road after Gilchrist reportedly assaulted his next-door neighbor. Gilchrist is accused of tackling Wallace Soffel, 70, to the ground. Charging documents state that Gilchrist then threw multiple punches at Soffel. Police said Soffel was bleeding from the left side of his head when officers arrived. Gilchrist was arraigned Sunday afternoon before District Judge John Bruner, who sent him to the Washington County jail on $250,000 bond.
