Dean Morrison of Benesch, who is serving as a design consultant on the Catfish Creek culvert reconstruction project in Washington, shows off plans Tuesday night for work that will be performed on South Main Street at Park Avenue in 2026.

Construction, which is expected to begin in spring 2026 and end later that fall, will close Park Avenue for about three weeks and it will close South Main Street for about 20 weeks – although not simultaneously – with detours set up around the area as crews update the aging culvert that runs underneath the roadway.

The state Department of Transportation held the public plans display Tuesday night at City Hall in Washington, and there is a similar virtual display available for people to review through Dec. 24 by going online to www.pa.gov/agencies/penndot/projects-near-you/district-12-projects and clicking on the “Route 2001/Route 18 Over Catfish” Creek project.
