The American Red Cross was called to assist seven families after an apartment building caught fire in Connellsville Wednesday night.

According to the Fayette County Emergency Management Agency, emergency crews were called at 8:55 p.m. to 314 N. Pittsburgh St.

The occupants of the building made it out safely. According to EMA, a firefighter was transported to a local hospital with a minor injury.

Officials said seven families were displaced as a result of the fire.

New Haven Hose Company responded to the fire, and was assisted by fire departments from Connellsville Township, South Connellsville and Bullskin Township.

The state police fire marshal is investigating. A cause has yet to be determined.
