Community gathers for menorah lighting in Washington to celebrate Chanukah
Dozens of people gathered Thursday night outside the Washington County Courthouse to celebrate the second night of Chanukah with the third annual menorah lighting in Washington.
Bill West of South Franklin lit two candles on the large menorah situated in the courthouse plaza to signify the second night of the Jewish holiday that began Wednesday.
Rabbi Mendel Wolowik of Chabad of Washington helped to organize the event that was filled with food, music, dancing and other traditions. Before the lighting, Wolowik said Chabad is accepting toy donations through the end of the month at Citizens Library in Washington that will be given to hospitalized children.
