A Uniontown man accused of shooting and killing his wife last week was arrested Tuesday morning at a resort in Las Vegas.
Arthur Eugene Guty was arrested without incident by authorities at the undisclosed location shortly after 8 a.m. local time, according to Uniontown police Lt. Tom Kolencik, although it’s not known when he will be returned to the area to face homicide and other felony charges.
An arrest warrant was filed for Guty, 55, after Uniontown police discovered the body of 26-year-old Franverlys “Nicole” Zambranobriceno at the couple’s home at 39 Bierer Ave. in the city Monday afternoon.
Kolencik said Zambranobriceno died of a single gunshot wound “to a vital area of the body,” but he declined to elaborate. It’s not known when Zambranobriceno died, although police said no one had talked to her since Christmas Eve and authorities were notified she was missing on Dec. 29.
“Her employer contacted our department and told us she had not been heard from for two or three days and that was unlike her,” Kolencik said. “We did a check on her welfare at her house and were told that she and her husband had left to go to Florida to visit a family member. We continued the investigation a little bit and found out that, that was false.”
Police received additional tips, which led to Zambanobriceno being found dead at her residence. An autopsy was expected to be performed Tuesday, according to Kolencik.
Kolencik did not have information about which authorities in Nevada arrested Guty or how police tracked him down at the resort. Online records show Guty is being held without bond at the Clark County jail in Las Vegas. He is facing felony charges of criminal homicide and aggravated assault, which were filed at the Uniontown office of District Judge Jason Cox.
In September 2018, Guty’s previous wife, Roxanne Guty, was accused of trying to hire a hitman to kill him. However, the most serious charges, including attempted homicide, were withdrawn when she eventually pleaded no contest to misdemeanor reckless endangerment in February 2021 and was sentenced to serve 20 months on probation.
