Dunkard Township man charged for another Greene County man’s overdose death
Cumberland Township police filed charges Wednesday against a Dunkard Township man in connection with a drug overdose death in September.
Roy Allen Keener, 44, is charged with felonies of homicide and drug delivery resulting in death.
Court records accuse Keener of selling Nicholas Michael Palmer heroin laced with fentanyl that killed him on Sept. 1.
Cumberland Township police were called to Palmer’s home in the 200 block of Minor Street, Greensboro, that evening. Palmer, 26, was found in his bedroom. An autopsy later confirmed he had died of acute fentanyl intoxication.
According to the complaint, police searched Palmer’s phone and found he had exchanged messages with Keener that morning via Facebook.
Police allege that the conversation details the two men arranging for Keener to sell Palmer heroin.
Keener spoke to police on Sept. 4 and confessed to selling the drugs to Palmer, according to the complaint.
Palmer’s obituary describes him as a “carefree soul” who loved to travel.
“With a contagious smile, he never failed to make those around him laugh. He loved his family and friends deeply, especially his mama and nephews. Although he struggled with his illnesses, he always stood tall, no matter what,” the obituary reads. “Nicholas was fearless as he was strong. He was loved.”
Online court records indicate that there is an active warrant for Keener’s arrest. He has yet to be arraigned on the charges, and a preliminary hearing has not been scheduled.
