Peters Township man arrested for alleged stabbing

A Peters Township man faces a felony assault charge after he was accused of stabbing another man during an Uber ride Friday night.

Cecil Township police arrested Christopher Lee Cavanagh, 40, after his Uber driver called 911 to report the assault. The driver told the dispatcher his two passengers in the rear seat had gotten into a fight, and one pulled out a knife.

According to the criminal complaint, police went to the 40 block of Georgetown Road at about 9:45 p.m. Police found Ryan Henning with stab wounds on his chest. Henning was transported to UPMC Mercy Hospital for treatment.

Cavanagh was arraigned Saturday morning before District Judge Mark Wilson, who sent him to the Washington County jail on $100,000. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 10:15 a.m. Jan. 25.
