Trinity Area School District was a recipient of the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE Distinguished District Award) for its innovative use of technology, commitment to equity, and excellence in education.
Trinity is the first school district in Pennsylvania to receive ISTE’s national award.
TASD administrators traveled to Denver, Colo., in June, where they were recognized during the 2024 ISTELive Conference.
“ISTE is thrilled to honor these individuals and districts as outstanding innovators in education,” said Richard Culatta, CEO of ISTE. “Their dedication and creativity are shaping the future of education and inspire us all to be changemakers and make a lasting impact.”
Dr. Michael Lucas, Trinity superintendent, said the district is honored to receive the award.
“As the first district to win the award in Pennsylvania, we hope to inspire our colleagues throughout the region to reimagine teaching and learning in the 21st century,” said Lucas. “If we can find creative ways to ensure equity and continue enhancing students’ learning experiences, everyone else can as well.”
Lucas thanked the school board for supporting the administration’s vision, and said he is grateful for the district’s teachers, who are willing “to extend well beyond their comfort zones to learn how to teach computational thinking.”
