Greene County bridge named for local Vietnam veteran
In recognition of his service and sacrifice, U.S. Army veteran Harry Ronald Hoskinson will be memorialized when a Perry Township, Greene County bridge is named in his honor.
The Mount Morris native was drafted into the U.S. Army after high school and served as a specialist in Company B, 2nd Battalion, 2nd Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division. Hoskinson was killed in action at 24 years of age on Dec. 14, 1965. He left behind his wife, Madelynn Hoskinson, and their daughter, Rhonda.
Hoskinson was awarded the Purple Heart, National Defense, Vietnam Service and Vietnam Campaign medals.
Through Act 63 of 2024, the bridge carrying state Route 2003 over Dunkard Creek in Perry Township, Greene County has been designated the H. Ronald Hoskinson Memorial Bridge
State Rep. Bud Cook introduced legislation late last year to name the bridge in Hoskinson’s honor. That measure was added to another bill, Senate Bill 1144, which ultimately became law.
