A Chartiers Township couple lost their home to fire Sunday evening.

Robert Fetty, assistant chief for the Chartiers Township Fire Department, said their crews were called at about 8:20 p.m. to 104 Veronica Drive.

The fire at the ranch-style home started on the front porch, according to Fetty.

“It extended into the living room and into the roof. There was a lot of damage,” Fetty said.

Living at the home were Teresa and John Lucciola. Missy Boland, a relative, said they were not at home at the time. “(Teresa) was actually in the hospital with her husband,” Boland said.

Boland and her husband own Bahr Hardware in Canonsburg, and are collecting donations to help the Lucciola family.

“Between her and his family, we’re trying to do everything we can to help out,” Boland said.

Boland added they are collecting monetary donations along with donations of clothing, food and gift cards.

Boland noted it is difficult timing for the couple, as John Lucciola has been hospitalized.

“It is pretty devastating for them,” Boland said.

Teresa Lucciola is staying with family.

The fire is under investigation by the state police fire marshal. Fetty said it did not appear to be suspicious.

Canonsburg Fire Department and Muse Fire Department also responded.
